Luxury Gifts, Cheating Rumors & Now a Hiatus? Ryoki’s Idol Life Spirals
BE:FIRST’s Miyama Ryoki has officially announced a hiatus from his group activities, and the timing couldn’t be more dramatic. This comes after a whirlwind dating scandal with YouTuber and entrepreneur Ono Akari that rocked the fandom back in April.
Reports say the relationship started in 2021 and was kept under wraps until it exploded into headlines—with claims of lavish gifts, a secret engagement, and even cheating.
Ryoki confirmed the break himself, saying he’ll step away after BE:FIRST’s Singapore World Tour stop on July 5. In his words: it’s time to “walk [his] own path.”
Fan Reactions :
The internet didn’t hold back.
“Was he even serious about the group to begin with? 🤔”
“Cheating’s messy, but why is that our business?”
Others were more supportive:
“Let the man breathe. He’s human.”
“Japan needs to stop acting like idols owe them their entire existence 😤”
X (Twitter) and forums were flooded with both hate and heartfelt support, and as always, the comments section turned into a battlefield.
MY HONEST TAKE :
Let’s be real—Ryoki’s scandal isn’t even shocking by today’s standards. But what’s disappointing is how much it still affects idols’ careers. Japan may be miles ahead in tech, but when it comes to separating personal and professional lives? They're seriously stuck. Yeah, cheating’s not cool, but does it really call for career damage? Ryoki’s stepping back might be a personal choice, but it also feels like he’s being pushed out.
If anything, this proves how intense the pressure still is for idols to be “perfect.” And let’s not forget, this could just be the beginning of a rebrand or solo path for Ryoki.
What Do You Think?
Is Ryoki owning up and taking space—or being unfairly punished for his private life? Should fans have a say in how idols handle their relationships? Let us know what you think in the comments 👇
